I love Teancum's age because he is finally enjoying all the excitement of the Holidays. This year the Easter Bunny wanted to help emphasize that Easter is about Jesus, so after hiding all the eggs and candy the Easter left scriptures for Teancum along with a scripture pencil and pencil sharpener, and some pictures of Jesus for Jacob...also thanks to a great sale at K-mart he was able to leave a game for each of them.
It was funny to see the boys come out. They were so stunned by the candy and eggs all over the living room that for the first while all they would do is walk around and point at everything. Teancum was excited for his game and told us over and over and over that the Easter Bunny got him Candy Land, (it helped that he played a life size version yesterday at the children's fair).
After trying lots of coaxing I finally took each kid and showed them that they were supposed to put the eggs and candy in their basket...Teancum was still too stunned by his gifts to do much but Jacob caught the hang of it and managed to gather most the eggs before Teancum woke up from his shock.
To my surprise and delight Teancum's wonderment with the game transferred to his Book of Mormon after he played a few rounds, I helped him find Jesus' name in it and highlight it, he took it to church and kept looking at the pictures and showing it to his friends...and my proudest moment was the following:
Primary Chorister: Why do we celebrate Easter?
Teancum: I KNOW! Jesus
Primary Chorister: Right, Do you know what Jesus did?
Teancum: He died then lived again.
Score one for the Easter Bunny and Family Scriptures! Teancum is still flipping through the book every few minutes.
